The tulips are just starting to show color on the early, with some lates to still break ground.

Color for April  26 & 27 should be good with peak color being around May 1 to 5 at Veldheer's.

this week,   9 to 5   Mon thru Wen

8 to 6Thur & Fri

Starting May 3 to 10 8 am to 7pm

May 11 8am to 3 pm

Gardens close 1hr prior to Stores

Eastern standard time ( 1hr prior to Chicago )

Each Variety of tulip normally last between 3 to 14 days

With 6 Million tulips & 850 Kinds planted here.  Many kind of tulips start out only being seen at Veldheer's & the Netherlands grower. Veldheer's is a must


Vern Veldheer was born Sept 25 1925

He started Veldheer's Inc. with 100 red tulip and 300 white tulips in 1947 post WWII.  He still works 60+ hours a week.  He life has been an inspiration to many in our community, staff, family, & myself.
